Consider/Approve HVAC Bid for Ridgemont Elementary School |

Background Information: In addition to advertising, we solicited bids from Danny Larcom Heat & Air, Inc., McCoy Heating & Air, and Billy Rodgers Plumbing, Heating & Air to replace HVAC units at Ridgemont Elementary School (specifications attached), which is budgeted in the General Purpose School Fund for the 2009 – 2010 fiscal year. The budget line item amount approved by the Board for this expenditure is sufficient to cover the cost. During this phase, we are proposing to change out the HVAC units and will address the fire alarm and HVAC controls in future budget years. We received three (3) bids for this project (all quotes include the alternate bid addition of two additional units) – Danny Larcom Heat & Air, Inc. – $462,000; McCoy Heating & Air – $383,000; and Billy Rodgers Plumbing, Heating & Air – $299,500. In addition, we will be receiving an energy efficiency grant from the State of Tennessee in the amount of $73,350. Staff Recommendation: I recommend approval of the bid submitted by Billy Rodgers Plumbing, Heating & Air to replace the HVAC units at Ridgemont Elementary School for $299,500. |
